City side find Notts a well drilled outfit Oct 9 2008
* Hockey: October 4 Wolverhampton 0 Nottingham 2 Wolverhampton went into their first BodyKraft Midlands Division One game on the back of a good pre-season. The opposition were Nottingham, who as recently as two seasons ago who were a National League side, so it was no surprise to face a very well drilled side. The visitors held out against some early Nottingham attacks and started to dominate the game, restricting the home team to a handful of attacks and one short corner. Wolverhampton had a number of chances by Tom Schubert and Chris Finch, but the Nottingham goalie saved well. Both sides came out quickly in the second half, and the home side struck a blow through scoring a quick goal. The visitors then pushed on and dominated the rest of the game, but for all of their pressure could not convert their chances, and late in the game Nottingham settled it with a second goal on the break. Man of the match was Ross Taylor. more

Elokobi operation a success Sep 18 2008
The news on left-back George Elokobi, who has been ruled out for the season, is positive. Elokobi suffered a serious knee injury during the 2-0 win at Ipswich Town and has now undergone surgery, which McCarthy said had been a success. "I spoke to George on the way back from the game on Saturday," he said. "He's had his operation and is now just waiting to start his rehabilitation. He's had his anterior cruciate ligament repaired and the damage wasn't as extensive as they thought so we was quite pleased. He'll be out a long time, we're looking at pre-season next year, but he's such a positive guy he'll probably break the world record for coming back!" more
